Part of the mission of Short Hills Ophthalmology and Dr. Farbowitz is to help those less fortunate, both at home and abroad. To that end, Dr. Farbowitz has become involved in two very important causes:
Vision Harvest is a local organization that provides cataract surgery to the uninsured around Thanksgiving at the River Drive Surgery Center in Northern New Jersey. Dr. Farbowitz is one of four surgeons at the center who volunteer for this program.
A Promise to Peru, Inc. provides an annual cataract surgical and medical mission to the remote villages of the Sacred Valley of Peru and other regions in need. Physicians and other health professionals from across the U.S. along with medical, optometry, pharmacology and public health students and undergraduate students volunteer their time towards this effort.
Dr. Farbowitz embarked on a mission to Guayaquil, Ecuador in the summer of 2015. He has also travelled to Ghana in West Africa.
Donations to either of these worthy organizations would be greatly appreciated.
